HERSHEY, PA – The Elegance at Hershey 5K Challenge is a certified chip-timed 5K race that runs behind the picturesque Hotel Hershey® on June 13, 2015. Participants are challenged early, running the same Grand Ascent hill climb course that dozens of vintage race cars will attack upon completion of the 5K foot race. The descent takes runners on a scenic, tree-lined path that leads to the flat and fast section of the race along the Swatara Creek. The home stretch is lined with magnificent race cars, adding yet another dimension to the runners’ experience.
Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers and medals will be given to first, second and third place finishers in six different age categories. All runners will receive goodie bags that include, among other things, a race-tech commemorative shirt and two passes to the Grand Ascent.
“The Elegance 5K Challenge is just that, a challenge!” states Holly Simpson, Board Member and Chairperson for the 5K Challenge. “Rewarding its runners with beautiful scenery, vintage race cars and (of course) lots of goodies, this race helps The Elegance’s primary beneficiary, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, in its quest to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes as well as the AACA Museum and the AACA Library and Research Center. I’ve learned a lot about runners while working on this event and, simply put, runners love a challenge and they love a good cause. The Elegance 5K Challenge is a win/win!”
